Educationist, former MLA of Kothrud, and Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.
Dr. Medha Kulkarni built a career in education before becoming one of Maharashtra's better-known faces in public life — a path that took her from the lecture hall of an engineering college to the floor of the Rajya Sabha.
Dr. Kulkarni studied at the University of Pune (now Savitribai Phule Pune University), completing her B.Sc., B.Ed. and M.Ed. there before going on to earn a PhD. She subsequently worked as a Professor and then a Principal at Sevasadan D.Ed College, Pune, building a career as an educationist ahead of her entry into politics.
In April 2024, Dr. Kulkarni was elected to the Rajya Sabha representing Maharashtra. Her engagement in the House — spanning issues of women's empowerment, education, urban development and the environment — was recognised with the Sansad Ratna award in 2025, given for outstanding parliamentary performance.
